A Complimentary Approach to Treatment
Acupuncture can be used as a standalone treatment or an adjunct to a selected rehabilitation programme. Supported by a background of scientific research and clinical evidence, Acupuncture is used by physiotherapists to reduce pain and inflammation naturally following stimulation of the nervous system and production of endorphins (and other hormones).
Acupuncture is also found to promote sleep and well-being by stimulating brain chemicals such as melatonin and serotonin respectively. The pain-relieving effects of Acupuncture can create a “window of opportunity” allowing other physiotherapy techniques like manual therapy or exercise to be applied sooner.
Our Acupuncture practising physiotherapists are members of the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapist (AACP) and have received specialist training in this area. You are more than welcome to contact our friendly team if you wish to arrange an Acupuncture session or want to learn more about this option.
